The Gmina Piecki [ ˈpjɛt͡ski ] is a rural community in the powiat Mrągowski of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the village of the same name ( German whip village ) with about 3350 inhabitants.

The municipality is located in the middle of the voivodeship. The city of Olsztyn (Allenstein) is 50 kilometers to the west. Neighboring municipalities are in the powiat Mrągowski Sorkwity and Mrągowo in the north and Mikołajki in the northeast, in the powiat Piski Ruciane-Nida in the southeast, in the powiat Szczycieński Świętajno in the south and Dźwierzuty in the west.

The rural community has an area of ​​314.6 km², 29 percent of which is used for agriculture and 51 percent for forestry.

The region belongs to the Masurian Lake District . The largest lake in the municipality is the 846 hectare Jezioro Mokre (Muckersee) . The flowing waters include the Krutynia (Kruttinna) and the Dajna (yours) .

The rural community was formed again in 1973 from various gromadas . From 1946 to 1998 their area belonged to the Olsztyn Voivodeship .

On June 26, 1996, the community received a new coat of arms.

The national road DK59 runs through the community from north to south. It runs from Giżycko (Lötzen) via Ryn (Rhine) , the district town of Mrągowo (Sensburg) and Piecki to Rozogi (Friedrichshof) . In a west-east direction, the national road DK58 leads from Olsztynek (Hohenstein) via Szczytno (Ortelsburg) to Pisz (Johannisburg) . It crosses DK59 in Stare Kiełbonki (Alt Kelbonken) . The DW610 voivodship road runs from Ruciane-Nida ( Rudczanny and Nieden ) via Ukta (Alt Ukta) to Piecki. The DW601 connects the places Babięta (Babienten) and Nawiady (Aweyden) in the municipality.

The nearest train station is in the district town of Mrągowo. The Peitschendorf and Kruttinnen railway stations on the Sensburg – Rudczanny railway line existed until 1945 .

The nearest international airports are Gdansk and Warsaw .
