Babięta ( German Babienten , 1938-1945 Babenten ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It belongs to the rural community Piecki ( German Peitschendorf ) in the Powiat Mrągowski ( Sensburg district ).
Geographical location
Babięta is located on the Babienter Fließ (1938-1945 Babenter Fließ , Polish Babięcka Struga ) in the southern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 22 kilometers south of the district town of Mrągowo ( German Sensburg ).
history
At the 1785 Babjenten and until 1938 Babienten mentioned village belonged until 1945 a forester , the five hundred meters lay southwest of Dores and the State Forestry Ratzeburg ( Polish Racibórz ) was incorporated. In 1651, the Babienten watermill was mentioned in an official account.
From 1874 to 1945 Babienten part of the administrative district Kelbonken (Polish Stare Kiełbonki ), which - in 1938 renamed District Kelbunken - to Sensburg in Administrative district Gumbinnen (1905 Government district Allenstein ) in the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged.
Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population in the Allenstein voting area , to which Babienten belonged, voted on July 11, 1920 on whether they would continue to belong to East Prussia (and thus Germany) or join Poland. In Babienten, 300 residents voted to remain with East Prussia, while Poland did not receive any votes.
On June 3rd (officially confirmed on July 16th) 1938 the spelling of the name was changed from Babienten to Babenten .
As a result of the war, the village came to Poland in 1945 with all of southern East Prussia and was given the Polish form of the name Babięta . Today it is the seat of a Schulzenamt ( Polish Sołectwo ) and thus a place in the community of Piecki (Peitschendorf) in the powiat Mrągowski ( Sensburg district ), until 1998 of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then it has belonged to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Until 1945 Babienten or Babenten was parish in the Evangelical Church of Aweyden in the church province of East Prussia of the Evangelical Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic St. Adalbert Church of Sensburg in the then diocese of Warmia .
Today Babięta belongs to the evangelical parish Nawiady , a branch parish of the parish Mrągowo in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland , and also to the Catholic parish of Nawiady in the current Archdiocese of Warmia in the Polish Catholic Church .
"Tatar hiking route"
A popular hiking trail is the Tatar hiking route , which is a marked path from Szczytno ( German Ortelsburg ) along the Markshöfer See (1938–1945 Marxöwer See , Polish Jezioro Marksoby ) and via Krawno (German 1938–1945 Kaddig ) to Babięta, including the Traces of the Tatars follow, who invaded southern Masuria in 1656 .

Babięta is located on the national road 58 , which is important for traffic , which leads through the southern Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship to the Podlaskie Voivodeship . In Babięta, the voivodship road 601 coming from the state road 59 near Nawiady (Aweyden) joins the state road 58. A side road connects the village with the north-western local region.
There is no connection to the rail network .
The nearest international airport is in Gdansk . South of the village of Babięta there is a special airfield for motor-powered aircraft , the "Lądowisko Babięta".
