Lubiewo ( German Lubjewen , 1938 to 1945 Grünbruch ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It belongs to the urban and rural community Mikołajki ( German Nikolaiken ) in the Powiat Mrągowski ( Sensburg district ).
Geographical location
Lubiewo is located in the heart of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , three kilometers northeast of the city of Mikołajki ( German Nikolaiken ) and 16 kilometers southeast of the district town of Mrągowo ( Sensburg ).
history
The small village, called Lubiewen after 1785 and Lubjewen until 1938 , became part of the newly established administrative district of Schaden ( Polish: Stare Sady ) in 1874 . Until 1945 it belonged to the Sensburg district in the Gumbinnen district (from 1905: Allenstein district ) in the Prussian province of East Prussia .
As the location of a windmill, Lubjewen was of national importance. In 1910 the village had 212 inhabitants, 193 in 1933 and 176 in 1939.
Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population in the Allenstein voting area , to which Lubjewen belonged, voted on July 11, 1920 on whether they would continue to belong to East Prussia (and thus to Germany) or join Poland. In Lubjewen, 160 people voted to remain with East Prussia, Poland did not.
On June 3 (officially confirmed on 16 July) 1938 Lubjewen was foreign-sounding place names in "green break" for political and ideological reasons of defense renamed .
As a result of the war, the village came to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia and was given the Polish form of name “Lubiewo”. Today it is the seat of a Schulzenamt ( Polish Sołectwo ) and as such a place in the network of the urban and rural municipality Mikołajki (Nikolaiken) in powiat Mrągowski ( Sensburg district ), until 1998 of the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . In 2011 Lubiewo had 81 inhabitants.
church
Until 1945 Lubjewen (Grünbruch) was incorporated into the Evangelical Parish Church of Nikolaiken in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and into the Roman Catholic Church of St. Adalbert in Sensburg in the Diocese of Warmia . Today the village still belongs to the Evangelical Church in Mikołajki , but is now assigned to the Masuria diocese in the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland . The Catholic residents of Lubiewo are now parish in the Diocese of Ełk after Mikołajki .
