A few weeks after US President Elizabeth Keane took office, Carrie Mathison is still convinced that there is a conspiracy against the state apparatus and that many of those arrested after the attack on Keane are innocent. To prove their innocence, she arranges a secret meeting at which her old friend, FBI agent Dante Allen, is supposed to share secret information with the US Senator for Arizona , Sam Paley, who opposes Keane . She has to change the meeting place at short notice when she notices that Dante is being followed. Arriving at the new meeting point, Dante refuses to testify because he sees his job security at risk. Keane is disappointed that US General Jamie McClendon, who was primarily responsible for the attack on her, receives only life imprisonment as a sentence, and speaks out publicly that she believes the death penalty is more appropriate. She hires her chief of staff, David Wellington, to solve the problem. Shortly thereafter, Wellington offered the imprisoned Saul Berenson the job of Keane's new national security advisor . Berenson makes the release of all those arrested in the second wave of arrests a condition for this. The surveillance expert Max Piotrowski, who works with Carrie, secretly installs several surveillance cameras in Wellington's house. The talk show host Brett O'Keefe, who is wanted by an arrest warrant, continues his broadcasts calling for the overthrow of the Keane government from different locations and hides from the FBI. On entering custody, McClendon suffers a fatal convulsion that had been inflicted on him unnoticed by one of the guards during a body search.

Keane agrees to Berenson's request for the prisoners to be released and immediately introduces Berenson to the public as their new national security advisor. His first job is to grab O'Keefe. He learns of the local police officers who helped O'Keefe escape from the FBI, whose whereabouts - a private house near a small town in Virginia - and wants to meet with him alone. Meanwhile, Carrie posted the photo of an unknown person she spotted on surveillance videos from Wellington's apartment on an online forum to find out who she was. When she carelessly opens a file contained in an answer, she catches a blackmail trojan on her laptop that encrypts her files and charges thousands of dollars for decryption. Since she doesn't have enough money, she wants to pay the blackmailer by undressing in front of the webcam and making herself available to him personally for erotic acts. At the subsequent meeting for two, she can overwhelm him and force him to decrypt her files, whereby she becomes so enraged that she almost kills him.

Allen has found out that the person Carrie spotted on the surveillance video is Simone Martin, Wellington's love partner. Thereupon Carrie breaks into Simone's house and collects information about her, but is observed and therefore arrested by the police. After Allen has obtained her release, Carrie visits her psychiatrist again, and it becomes clear that Carrie's drug , which was previously used for her bipolar disorder , is no longer working well enough. Therefore, she has to go through months of adaptation to a new drug, in which she wants to be helped by her sister Maggie, a doctor. When Allen finds out that Simone was around the time of McClendon's death, Carrie interrupts this adjustment process again. Meanwhile, Berenson wants to convince O'Keefe to surrender to the FBI and bring charges against him. However, O'Keefe secretly uses the time to gather a few dozen heavily armed civilians on the estate where he is staying with the aim of assisting him in the alleged fight against the FBI. Meanwhile, people from Keane's government are pleading in a cabinet meeting to carry out an air strike in the Syrian conflict , against which Keane had previously spoken out. Wellington evaded the ban and ordered the airstrike on their own behalf on their own behalf.

Carrie watches as Wellington receives a visit from Keane at home and admits to her that he ordered the airstrike on her behalf to strengthen her presidency. In order to be able to continue the investigation undisturbed, Carrie procures appropriate medication. With Max, Carrie finds out that Simone Martin withdrew almost $ 50,000 in cash in five different small towns, including the city with the prison, the day before McClendon's death and is therefore suspected of having raised money for the alleged contract killing of McClendon . Meanwhile, the underage JJ, who belongs to the vigilante-like group around O'Keefe, is shot by an FBI agent, who then takes the civilians hostage. They have JJ taken to a hospital for treatment, where a man takes a picture of him and posts it online, along with false claims that JJ is bleeding to death from medical neglect. The news angered JJ's father, who was one of the armed civilians, so much that he shot the captured FBI man. A bloody firefight ensues, in which mostly civilians die. O'Keefe broadcasts the live video of himself in the hail of bullets, along with a message on the Internet that Keane was responsible for the attack, and is eventually arrested by the FBI.

Five FBI agents and 14 civilians died in the Virginia firefight. In order to avoid public unrest and bad press, Keane motivates the widows of the deceased FBI men to attend the live-broadcast funeral service organized by the bereaved of the civilians who died on their side. While the majority of worshipers view the widows' attendance as an affront and reject it, only JJ's mother offers them seats, much to Keane's satisfaction. Berenson has well-founded suspicions that the Russian Yevgeny Gromov, who once spread a very similar fake message in the Ukraine conflict, was responsible for the fake news that JJ had died . To corroborate this suspicion, he interrogates Ivan Krupin, a friend of his, a former Russian secret agent in Wyoming . Meanwhile, Carrie wants to prove the responsibility of Simone Martin and David Wellington for the alleged contract killing of McClendon for a planned criminal complaint. With the help of Allen, Max and some other, former companions, she gets Simone's statement that the money was intended to pay for the murder, including a nightly attack at her place of work. The placement of a bug in your belongings fails despite multiple attempts. When Simone visits David, she tells him nothing about the robbery - much to the disappointment of Carrie and Max, who had hoped to prove a collaboration between David and Simone.

Based on the information that Carrie and her aides found out about Simone Martin, Paley questions her in an official, private hearing about her possible connection to McClendon's death. When Simone begins naming David Wellington as the commissioner of the payments and the murder, Carrie speaks to All of their conviction that Simone is lying and would also do so in the upcoming Senate hearing. Carrie turns to Berenson for help. After listening to her, he suspects that she came to her original assumption that Wellington was a traitor only on suggestions from Allen and that this may play a double role. To test this theory, Carrie, with the help of Max and other acquaintances, lures Allen into a trap until he is passed out. Meanwhile, Saul hires a former CIA colleague and, with her help and that of a computer scientist, investigates from a hiding place. During a conversation with Wellington in a restaurant, Simone suddenly becomes indiscreet and accuses him of being violent; a guest posts a video of this scene on the Internet. Saul and his aides discover that the video is spreading online nationwide in the same way as the video of JJ's alleged death. Meanwhile, Krupin meets with Gromov, whom he informs that Saul has him under suspicion and tells him to stop his actions. However, Gromov rejects Krupin's concerns and prevents Krupin from meeting Saul by kidnapping some of the helpers with him and sinking them alive and tied up in a body of water to drown.

Carrie and her aides search Allen's belongings in search of information about him without his being aware of the investigation. Carrie and Franny move out of Maggie's house because of an argument with her sister about her lack of care for her daughter Franny. She accepts Allen's offer to temporarily live with him and seeks more information about him there. Meanwhile, Saul has come to believe that Simone Martin is working in the interests of Russian backers to overthrow the US government. Wellington asks the president to resign, but Keane refuses because she still needs him to protect her presidency. Saul has the surveillance cameras removed from Wellington's house and forces Max to assist him and his team in the investigation, under threat of punishment for illegal surveillance. He is also unsuccessful with his request to a federal judge to question Simone Martin before the upcoming Senate hearing because the judge sees it as influencing witnesses. Max finds out that Allen was in five specific Eastern European cities on the same days as Simone. Saul therefore suspects Allen to be a Russian agent and has him arrested by a special task force in his apartment - coincidentally at the same time as Allen is having sex with Carrie.

After Maggie learns of Franny's shock at the appearance of the Special Task Force, she threatens Carrie with claiming custody of Franny if Carrie does not seek medical treatment. Saul interrogates Carrie Allen to get a confession about his association with Simone Martin. Meanwhile, Paley, along with several other high-ranking politicians, asks the President in the Oval Office to abdicate without delay because she is likely to suffer serious political damage because of the allegations against Wellington and thus also against herself that are expected in two days from Simone Martin before the Senate Committee. Keane then - without coordination with Saul - lets Wellington contact the Russian ambassador and threatens serious, anti-Russian consequences if Moscow fails to ensure that Martin does not testify in the Senate. The ambassador then instructs Gromov to thwart Martin's planned testimony before the Senate. Through blackmail from Martin's lawyer, Gromov learns her secret whereabouts, from where he has her kidnapped. Since Allen does not want to admit any involvement in the McClendon murder, Saul and Carrie medically ensure that Allen has a heart attack, which he appears to have been caused by his lawyer, and testifies against Martin in return for medical help. With Allen's testimony, Saul wants to have Martin arrested, but narrowly misses her because of her abduction. The plan to revive Allen, however, threatens to fail because the antidote does not work.

After recovering in the hospital, Allen believes Carrie's statement that the lawyer who caused his heart attack was sent by his Russian employers, and is now ready to provide Saul and Carrie with information about his connection with the Russian side. This also means that he names a secret code with which the cell led by Gromov can be broken up from Russian agents. Using legally illegal means - including invading US citizens' privacy - but with the consent of Keane, Saul has his employees post the abort code via Twitter and track down those people who reply to the code as confirmation. When Gromov learns that his collaborator Allen cannot be reached, he decides not to leave the country with Simone, but to track down Allen. He soon learns from helpers that Allen is in a hospital. After the abort code is issued, Gromov realizes that Allen is cooperating with the US authorities and tracks him down in the hospital. There he gives him the opportunity to convince himself by calling Carrie that, contrary to his opinion, the lawyer was not sent from Gromov's side. In the phone call, Allen also warns Carrie about the appearance of Gromov, whereupon he kills Allen. Carrie immediately goes to the hospital and neglects her daughter, who almost runs over her. On arrival at the hospital, she had a severe manic-depressive episode, during which she remembered terrible events such as the deaths of Brody and Quinn. Meanwhile, Saul and Wellington, with Keane's consent, let Paley know about the Russian network of agents that Paley had used as "useful idiots" with the aim of overthrowing the Keane government.

After her psychotic surge, Carrie is given a new medication. After Maggie's plea in court that Carrie would neglect Franny if she kept custody at the latest for the next secret service assignment, Carrie reached an out of court agreement with Maggie that the latter would receive custody. Meanwhile, after Allen's death, Saul must find reliable evidence of the Russian plan to overthrow the Keane government as quickly as possible. Carrie agrees to his request to lead the planned covert mission near Moscow to capture Simone on site. In particular, the evidence serves to dispel doubts about Keane's account of the Russian plan. The doubters include some ministers from their cabinet who therefore want to activate the 25th amendment to their removal from office , for which they only lack the approval of Vice President Ralph Warner. The latter assured Keane that he would refuse the impeachment proceedings and was shortly afterwards asked by Defense Secretary Mullen for an interview in order to get him on his side, ie the side of the doubters. Without knowing the content of the conversation, but knowing what happened, Keane dismisses Mullen and three other ministers as a preventive measure and to prevent the impeachment proceedings. Warner then tells her that he still does not support Mullen's plan and demands that Keane reverse the layoffs. Since Keane refuses to take this step, Warner wants to judge the legality of the dismissals, which he has questioned, and if they are invalid, have the President declared incapable of office.

The US Supreme Court found the dismissal of the four ministers to be invalid by a narrow majority, whereupon Warner activated the 25th Amendment on behalf of the cabinet and removed Keane from office. Paley asks the imprisoned Dar Adal about the likely reason for Saul's operation in Russia and, through blackmailing the computer scientist from Saul's team, gains the knowledge that the mission is to kidnap Simone Martin. Paley has his chief of staff, Janet Bayne, pass this information on to the Russian ambassador so that the kidnapping can be sabotaged and Keane's government can no longer be saved. Meanwhile, Saul and Carrie have arrived at a Moscow hotel and have a diplomatic conversation there asking the representatives of the intelligence services SWR and GRU that Gromov also attend the meeting - this secretly serves to lure Gromov away from the house, from Carrie's team Simone want to kidnap. The kidnapping fails because Gromov has taken precautions. In order to keep Simone anyway, Saul, at Carrie's suggestion, blackmailed the SWR General Yakushin so that he would only make his many millions of US dollars in US accounts accessible again if he arranged for Simone's extradition. After the GRU representative Mirov vs. Yakushin has denied having Simone in custody, Yakushin has an armed commando of SWR soldiers storm the GRU headquarters in order to find her. Carrie and her helper Anson, disguised as SWR soldiers, mingle with the soldiers and get Simone out of the building. From above, Gromov sees Simone and Carrie driving away in different cars, but without realizing that they are wearing wigs and clothes in each other's colors.
84 12 The bridge over the Narva Paean to the People April 29, 2018 20th July 2018 Lesli Linka Glatter Alex Gansa
In Simone's outfit, Carrie can mislead or stop the Russian security forces until Saul and his team with Simone have taken off by plane. In order to be allowed into the airport, Saul called for help from the incumbent US President Warner, who intervened with the Russian ambassador and defended himself against Paley's objection. Carrie is imprisoned in Russia at Gromov's instigation. Three days later he tried unsuccessfully to force her to read out an apology to the Russian people by threatening to withhold her medication. In Washington, DC, Simone made a public and live televised confession to the Senate Intelligence Committee explaining her original goal of overthrowing the US government. It exonerates Keane of the allegations against her, so that the impeachment is reversed. When she visits prison, she spits on Paley's face in disgust. A few hours later, she gave an improvised address to the nation in the Oval Office, also broadcast live, in which she addressed a deep division in the country and its society. Since she does not see herself in a good enough position to unite the country, she declares her immediate resignation from the office of US president and announces Warner as her successor. Seven months later, Saul oversees a prisoner exchange on the Russian- Estonian border, in which four Russians are released from US captivity in exchange for Carrie. When she arrives on Estonian soil, Carrie appears absent-minded and doesn't seem to recognize Saul.
