Lucas Vázquez Iglesias (born July 1, 1991 in Curtis ) is a Spanish football player who has been under contract with Real Madrid since the 2015/16 season .

Career

societies

Vázquez began his career with CD Curtis and FC Ural before moving to Real Madrid's youth department in 2007 . There he went through all youth departments until 2010 and initially moved up to the third team for the 2010/11 season. A year later Vázquez was finally ordered into the second team . After two seasons in the third-rate Segunda División B , he rose with his team for the 2012/13 season in the Segunda División . By performing well in the second team, Vázquez was able to recommend himself to the first team, where he sat on the bench for the first time in the Primera División on the 30th and 33rd match day of the 2013/14 season , but was not substituted on.

After the relegation of the second team to the Segunda División B, Vázquez moved on loan to the first division club Espanyol Barcelona for the 2014/15 season . He made his debut in the Primera División on August 30, 2014, when he was substituted on for Salva Sevilla in the 59th minute of their 2-1 defeat by Sevilla FC on Matchday 2 . He scored his first goal on October 5, 2014 in a 2-0 home win against Real Sociedad on Matchday 7. As the season progressed, Vázquez developed into a regular player and was in the starting line-up for 30 of his 33 league appearances, scoring three goals. On June 3, 2015, Vázquez was firmly committed and given a contract until June 30, 2019.

After Espanyol had firmly signed Vázquez, Real Madrid pulled out a buyback option a month later and gave him a five-season contract until June 30, 2020 for the 2015/16 season . In his first season after returning, he won the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid . In the final, he was used in the last 43 minutes and scored a goal on penalties. His use in the Primera División was no less successful . Although he was mainly used as a substitute, there were four hits and eight assists at the end of the season. He was then appointed by Vicente del Bosque to the squad of the Spanish national team.

National team

At the European Championships in France in 2016 , he was included in Spain's squad without having been previously considered. He made his debut as a right-winger in the last preparatory game against Georgia on June 7th. At the European Championships he was initially only on the bench, in the round of 16 he was then used in the final phase when the score was 1-0 for Italy. The game could not be rotated and Spain was eliminated.
