Luka Jović ( Serbian - Cyrillic Лука Јовић ; born December 23, 1997 in Bijeljina , Republika Srpska , Bosnia and Herzegovina ) is a Serbian football player . The striker is under contract with Real Madrid and is a senior international .

Until 2016: Starts at Red Star Belgrade

Jović moved to Red Star Belgrade when he was eight . On 28 May 2014 the final day of the season 2013/14 , he came at the age of 16 years at 3: 3 against FK Vojvodina for the first time in the Serbian Superliga used, as he, after 71 minutes Ifeanyi Onyilo came on . By winning points, he secured the Serbian championship with Red Star . From the 2014/15 season Jović was officially part of the first team and made his starting line-up debut on October 18, 2014 in the 0-1 defeat at FK Partizan Belgrade . On March 7, 2015 he scored his first competitive goal in professional football in the home game against FK Vojvodina with the goal to make it 3-0 in the 53rd minute and became the youngest goalscorer in the club's history. By the end of the season, Jović met six times in 22 league appearances. As a runner-up , he played with his club in the qualification for the Europa League at the beginning of the 2015/16 season , which, however, could not prevail against the Kazakh runner-up FK Qairat Almaty in the first qualifying round . As a regular player, Jović had 19 games with 5 goals in the league by the end of the year.

2016–2017: First international experience in Portugal

At the beginning of February 2016, Jović moved to the Portuguese first division club Benfica Lisbon and signed a five-year contract. After two appearances for his second team in the Segunda Liga , he made his debut on March 20, 2016 in a 1-0 away win against Boavista Porto in the Primeira Liga. On April 13, 2016, Jović came on for the first time in the Champions League in the 2-2 quarter-final second leg against FC Bayern Munich , after being substituted for Eliseu in the 88th minute . At the end of the season, Jović won the Portuguese championship with Benfica. In the 2016/17 season he came to a league assignment for Benfica's first team and again secured the championship title as well as the national cup and Supercup with the team .

2017–2019: breakthrough at Eintracht Frankfurt

For the 2017/18 season , Jović was loaned to German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt for two seasons with a subsequent purchase option . There he scored his first goal for Frankfurt in his first competitive game, the 1: 2 defeat in the Bundesliga match against FC Augsburg on September 16, 2017. On October 19, 2018, Jović scored five goals in a 7-1 home win against Fortuna Düsseldorf , making him the 17th and so far youngest five - goal scorer in Bundesliga history. His first goal, which he scored in the 27th minute with a side pull , was later named Goal of the Month for October and came second in the selection for Goal of the Year 2018 . In January 2019, Jović was classified by the kicker sports magazine in its semi-annual ranking of German football as the third best Bundesliga striker in an international class . In the tournament, Jović came in the third group game, the 2-0 defeat against Brazil , to a brief stint and retired with his team as third in the table after the group stage . On March 20, 2019, he was in the starting line-up for the first time in the 1-1 friendly match against Germany and scored his first international goal.

Jović was born in the Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina , which is largely inhabited by Serbs , and has only Serbian citizenship. At the end of February 2019, he became the father of a son.
