Casemiro , real name Carlos Henrique Casimiro (born February 23, 1992 in São José dos Campos ), is a Brazilian soccer player . He is under contract with Real Madrid .

Career

At the age of eleven, Casemiro left his hometown São José dos Campos and was accepted into the youth department of São Paulo FC . He went through the various junior teams and was the captain of his team in every age group . With the U-15 team, he won the São Paulo state championship in 2007 and the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior , a state-wide junior cup , with the U-18 team in 2010 .

Since 2010 Casemiro has been part of the São Paulo first team. On July 25, 2010 he made his debut in the 1-0 defeat against FC Santos in the Liga do Brasil . In his third appearance on August 15, 2010, he scored his first goal in a 2-2 draw against Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte . In 2012 he won the Copa Sudamericana with his club .

At the end of January 2013 Casemiro was loaned to the second team of the Spanish club Real Madrid in the Segunda División until the end of the 2012/13 season . On April 20, 2013 Casemiro made his debut under coach José Mourinho against Betis Sevilla for the first team in the Primera División . At the end of the season, Real Madrid made use of a purchase option, signed Casemiro for four years and promoted him to the professional squad.

For the 2014/15 season Casemiro moved to the Portuguese Primeira Liga for FC Porto on loan with an option to buy . There he made 28 league appearances (three goals) and developed into a regular player.

For the 2015/16 season Real Madrid bought the purchase option from FC Porto and Casemiro returned to Madrid. At the end of August 2015, his contract was extended to June 30, 2021.

National team

Casemiro took part in the 2009 U-17 World Cup with the Brazilian selection . He was only used once and Brazil was eliminated after the preliminary round. At the U-17 South American Championship , Brazil did better and won the title.

In 2011 Casemiro won the U-20 South American Championship . In eight games during the tournament, he scored three goals and at the end of the tournament was the first to raise the winner's trophy due to an injury to the regular captain Bruno Uvini . Casemiro was also part of the squad at the 2011 U-20 World Cup . He was in all seven games of Brazil used and won by one. 3: 2 victory over aet Portugal and the world title of the U-20 juniors.

On September 15, 2011 Casemiro made his debut in the Brazilian senior team . In the 0-0 draw in the friendly against Argentina , he was substituted on in the 87th minute. From 2012 he played regularly in the Seleção . At the 2014 World Cup in his own country, Casemiro was not part of the Brazilian squad , but the then coach of the national team, Carlos Dunga , appointed him to the squad for the 2015 Copa America in Chile . Casemiro was not used during the tournament. At the Copa América Centenario 2016 in the USA , he was again part of the Brazilian squad and made two appearances; the Brazilian team was eliminated after the group stage. Also during the 2019 Copa América Casemiro was in the squad of the team. With this he was able to win the title. He was in the starting line-up in all six games and scored his first international goal.

Casemiro is versatile. He mainly acts in defensive midfield , but can also be used on offense or central defense .
