OFC Champions League 2017

The OFC Champions League 2018 was the 17th season of the most important oceanic competition for club teams in football . The season began with the qualification on January 20, 2018 and ended with the finals in May 2018. The defending champions were New Zealand club Auckland City FC .

Team Wellington won the title for the first time and qualified as representative of the OFC for the 2018 FIFA Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates .

qualification

The qualification draw took place in Auckland on September 15, 2017 . The four clubs played a round -robin tournament from January 20 to 26, 2018 in Pago Pago , American Samoa . All games were played at the Pago Park Soccer Stadium .

The group first and second reached the group stage. The other two teams were eliminated.

Group stage

16 clubs from 9 regional associations took part in the group stage. 14 teams were directly qualified, plus 2 that were able to qualify via a round-robin tournament. The group draw took place in Auckland on September 15, 2017 . The teams were drawn into four groups with four participants each. Teams from the same national association could not be drawn into the same group.

The group winners and runners-up qualified for the quarter-finals, while those placed third and fourth were eliminated from the competition. If two or more teams were tied, the placement was determined by the following criteria.

  2. Number of goals in all group matches
  3. Number of points in direct comparison
  4. Goal difference in direct comparison
  5. Number of goals in direct comparison
