Raymond Gunemba (born June 4, 1986 in Lae ) is a Papua New Guinean football player who takes the position of the striker . He currently plays for New Zealand first division club Hamilton Wanderers AFC. Gunemba scored five goals at the 2016 Oceania Football Championship in his own country, making it the tournament's top scorer .

Career

Gunemba began his career in 2007 with the Papua New Guinea first division club Morobe Kumuls (now Gigira Laitepo United FC) from Lae. With them he reached third place in the championship playoffs. The next two seasons he ran for the Rapatona Tigers from the capital Port Moresby and was also third in the championship playoffs there in the 2009/10 season. In 2011 he moved to the record champions Hekari United , with whom he became champions of Papua New Guinea for three years in a row. Between 2014 and 2016 he played for the Lae City Dwellers and was able to become champions twice with them. After the 2016 Papua-New Guinean season, he accepted an offer from New Zealand and joined the Hamilton Wanderers. Here he was able to achieve five goals and two assists in 13 league games. For the group games in March of the OFC Champions League 2017 he played again on loan for the Lae City Dwellers, scored two goals and reached third place in group C with the club.

At the age of 25, Gunemba made his debut in 2012 under former coach Frank Farina for the Papua New Guinean national soccer team in the 0-1 defeat in the World Cup qualifier against the Solomon Islands . He scored his first international goal in a 2-1 defeat in the friendly against Singapore on September 6, 2014. Gunemba completed his most successful game for his country in the qualification for the 2018 World Cup against Samoa on June 5, 2016, in which he was 8-0 Sieg scored three goals himself and prepared two.
