Football World Cup 2014 / Qualification (OFC)
The eleven associations of the Oceanic Football Confederation (OFC ) played in the qualification for the Football World Cup 2014 for the right to start in the intercontinental decision-making match against the fourth placed in the American CONCACAF qualification . On March 22, 2013, New Zealand was prematurely group winners by a 2-1 win against the direct rival New Caledonia , but lost in the playoffs Mexico , so the OFC 2014 does not provide a World Cup participant.
FIFA regulations
According to FIFA regulations, the preliminary round matches in the form of group and cup matches could be played in home and return matches or, in exceptional cases, in tournament form in one of the participating countries. In the group matches, three points were awarded for a win and one for a draw. The following criteria were decisive:
- higher number of points
- better goal difference
- higher number of goals scored
- higher number of points from the direct encounters between teams with the same points and goals
- better goal difference from the direct encounters between the teams with the same points and goals
- higher number of goals from direct encounters between teams with equal points and goals
- higher number of away goals from direct encounters between teams with the same points and goals if only two teams are affected. (Only in the third round)
If two teams had done the same according to these criteria, a playoff could have been scheduled. This case did not occur.

The qualification and the preliminary round of the Oceania Championship were also part of the World Cup qualification. The qualification for the Oceania Championship did not take place as part of the Pacific Games as in 2007 , but the four weakest teams in Oceania played a tournament in Samoa in November 2011 . The winner took part in the preliminary round of the Oceania Championship in the Solomon Islands from June 1 to 6, 2012 . The subsequent semi-finals and finals from June 8th to 10th had no influence on the qualification for the World Cup, because in contrast to previous editions, the Oceania champions Tahiti did not automatically receive the place for the play-off games this time. Instead, a third round took place from September 2012 to March 2013, in which the four semi-finalists determined the Oceania participants in a group with home and return matches. As a result, Oceania champions and Oceania representatives were different teams.
First round
The four underperforming members of the OFC (according to the world rankings ) played the eighth participant in the main tournament in the league system from November 22nd to 26th, 2011 in the Toleafoa JS Blatter Soccer Stadium in Apia , Samoa . This qualification also represented the 1st round of the Oceania qualification for the 2014 World Cup .

Play-off against CONCACAF representatives
For the play-off for a starting place at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, New Zealand qualified as the third round winner.
New Zealand lost the first leg with 1: 5 on November 13, 2013 and the second leg on 20 November with 2: 4 and thus could not qualify for the 2014 World Cup.
