OFC Champions League 2018

The 2019 OFC Champions League was the 18th season of the most important oceanic competition for club teams in football . The season began with the qualification on January 26, 2019 and ended with the final on May 11, 2019. Defending champion Team Wellington from New Zealand was eliminated in the semifinals.

The winner for the first time was the club Hienghène Sport , who beat AS Magenta 1-0 in a purely New Caledonian final and thus qualified as a representative of the OFC for the FIFA Club World Cup 2019 in Qatar . The top scorer was the Englishman Ross Allen of Team Wellington with eleven goals.

qualification

The qualification draw took place in Auckland on November 13, 2018 . The four clubs played a round-robin tournament in Rarotonga on the Cook Islands from January 26th to February 1st, 2019 . All games were played at CIFA Academy Field .

The group first and second reached the group stage. The other two teams were eliminated.

Group stage

16 clubs from 9 regional associations took part in the group stage. 14 teams were directly qualified, plus 2 that were able to qualify via the round-robin tournament. The group draw took place on November 13, 2018 in Auckland . The teams were drawn into four groups with four participants each. Teams from the same national association could not be drawn into the same group.

The group winners and runners-up qualified for the quarter-finals, while those placed third and fourth were eliminated from the competition. If two or more teams were tied, the placement was determined by the following criteria.

  3. Number of points in direct comparison
  4. Goal difference in direct comparison
  5. Number of goals in direct comparison
