OFC Champions Cup 2005

The OFC Champions Cup 2005 was the fourth edition of an oceanic championship competition for club teams in football after a four-year break and took place from May 31 to June 10, 2005 with eight clubs from seven countries in Papeete , Tahiti. The teams came from Australia , New Caledonia , New Zealand , Papua New Guinea , the Solomon Islands , Tahiti and Vanuatu . The teams qualified based on their placements in the national championship. The representative from Australia and two teams from Tahiti were set for the preliminary round. The other teams had to play a qualifying round with a home and away leg beforehand, from which another five teams qualified. The competition was played in a round-robin tournament with two groups of four teams and a subsequent knockout round . The two best in the group reached the semi-finals.

Winners Sydney FC from Australia qualified as representatives of Oceania for the 2005 FIFA Club World Cup in Japan .

qualification

The qualifiers took place from February 10th to April 6th. The guest teams each had to play both games on the opponent's place.
