OFC Champions Cup 2001

The OFC Champions Cup 2001 was the third game of an oceanic championship competition for club teams in football after a two-year break and took place from 9 to 22 January 2001 with eleven clubs from eleven countries at the Lloyd Robson Stadium in Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea . The teams came from American Samoa , Australia , Cook Islands , Fiji , New Zealand , Papua New Guinea , the Solomon Islands , Western Samoa , Tahiti , Tonga and Vanuatu . The teams qualified based on their placements in the national championship. The competition was played in a round-robin tournament with two groups of six and five teams followed by a knockout round . The two best in the group qualified for the semi-finals.

The winner Wollongong Wolves from Australia was qualified as representative of Oceania for the FIFA Club World Cup 2001 in Spain , which did not take place.
