The OFC Champions Cup 2001 was the third game of an oceanic championship competition for club teams in football after a two-year break and took place from 9 to 22 January 2001 with eleven clubs from eleven countries at the Lloyd Robson Stadium in Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea . The teams came from American Samoa , Australia , Cook Islands , Fiji , New Zealand , Papua New Guinea , the Solomon Islands , Western Samoa , Tahiti , Tonga and Vanuatu . The teams qualified based on their placements in the national championship. The competition was played in a round-robin tournament with two groups of six and five teams followed by a knockout round . The two best in the group qualified for the semi-finals.
* In the course of the tournament it turned out that 7 players from PanSa FC were not eligible to play, so that the first two games were canceled and subsequently rated 2-0 for the opponents.
**PanSa FC was not able to provide a complete team. As a result, the club was excluded from the tournament before the fourth game. These two games were also rated 2-0 for the respective opponents.
