The OFC Champions Cup 1987 was the first game of an oceanic championship competition for club teams in football and took place including a qualifying round from March 6 to 15, 1987 with nine clubs from nine countries in Hindmarsh Stadium in Adelaide Australia. The teams came from Australia , Fiji , New Caledonia , New Zealand , Papua New Guinea , Palau , the Solomon Islands , Tahiti and Vanuatu . Seven teams qualified based on their placements in the national championship; Palau and Vanuatu were represented by selection teams. The competition consisted of a qualifying round with seven teams, the winner of which took part in the main competition alongside the two seeded representatives from Australia and New Zealand. This only consisted of a semi-final and the final.
