University-Mount Wellington AFC is a New Zealand football club based in Auckland and one of the most successful clubs in the country. The club got its current name through the merger of Mount Wellington AFC and Auckland University AFC .
history
The club was founded in 1952 under the name Mount Wellington . In 1968 and 1969 the Northern Premier League could be won. When the New Zealand National Soccer League was introduced in 1970, Mt Wellington was one of the strongest clubs in the country. Already in 1971 the team reached second place in the table, in 1972 the first national title was won. A year later the first cup title followed. Overall, Mount Wellington won the championship six times and the cup competition five times.
