The Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium ( Arabic استاد هزاع بن زايد) is a football stadium in the city of Al Ain , Emirate of Abu Dhabi , United Arab Emirates . It is owned and the home ground of the football club al Ain Club , which plays in the country's highest league, the UAE Arabian Gulf League .

history

The construction of Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium was commissioned in July 2012. The company BAM Sports, with the participation of other companies, only had 16 months to set it up. The design comes from the London- based architecture firm Pattern Design Limited . The work was completed in December 2013. In January 2014 the stadium was inaugurated with a three-day celebration. It can accommodate 25,000 spectators, to 21,658 seats and 3,342 business and box seats split. The facade is based on the structure of a local palm trunk . It can be illuminated in different colors. The stadium was 612 white PTFE - membrane - panels that are mounted on a black steel frame, covered. They can be opened individually and help ventilate the venue. Schlaich Bergermann partners were responsible for the curved roof construction . The steel construction was covered with membranes made of PVC and PES . The towering roof of the main grandstand is designed in such a way that the playing field and the grandstands are in the shade at lunchtime.

Events

The game for the Egyptian Soccer Supercup 2015 between al Ahly Cairo and al Zamalek SC (3: 2) was played on October 15 of that year in the stadium of the al Ain Club. In November 2016, the final second leg of the AFC Champions League 2016 between the al Ain Club and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors from South Korea took place in the sports facility . The Egyptian Football Supercup 2017 took place again in al Ain on January 12, 2018. al Ahly Cairo beat al-Masry 1-0 after extra time . The Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, next to the Zayed Sports City Stadium, was the venue for the 2017 FIFA Club World Cup . The 2018 FIFA Club World Cup will also take place in the two stadiums in December of that year. The facility is planned as one of eight stadiums in the four cities of Abu Dhabi , al-Ain, Dubai and Sharjah for the 2019 Asian Football Championship .
