The Capstan Rocks (English for spill rocks ) are a small group of Rifffelsen before the Danco Coast of Graham lands north of the Antarctic Peninsula . In the Palmer Archipelago , they are 1.5 km south of Bob Island in the southern entrance of Gerlache Strait . When the tide is high and the wind is strong, they are washed over by sea water.
The rocks can be found unnamed for the first time on an Argentine map from 1950. The Royal Navy's hydrographic survey unit carried out surveys between 1956 and 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee gave them their descriptive name on July 7, 1959.
