Florent Malouda (born June 13, 1980 in Cayenne , French Guiana ) is a former French football player . The midfielder was also used in the attack .

Career

Florent Malouda began his playing career at the amateur club ASC Remiré ; In 1995 he moved to the French second division club LB Châteauroux . In Châteauroux 'only first division season (1997/98) he was used only once, then signed his first professional contract there and then established himself as a regular in the second division, scoring five goals in 58 games. In 2000 he moved to EA Guingamp , although other much larger clubs were interested in him. There he played alongside Didier Drogba and qualified with the club for the UI Cup .

After three years in Guingamp, during which he often knew how to convince (92 first division games, 15 goals), he moved to French champions Olympique Lyon in the summer of 2003 for 2.5 million euros , with whom he became champions every year and the Trophée des Champions won. In total, he played 231 times in French Ligue 1 and scored 40 goals.

For the 2007/08 season he moved to the English runner-up and FA Cup winner Chelsea FC for around £ 13.5 million , where he initially had to struggle with conversion problems. After he got used to English football, he got more and more playing time. In the 2008/09 season he completed 31 league games. In the 2009/10 season he played 33 times for Chelsea and scored twelve goals. He was also voted Premier League Footballer of the Month in March 2010 . In the 2011/12 season, Malouda won the FA Cup for the third time with Chelsea and the UEFA Champions League for the first time .

For the 2012/13 season, Malouda was deleted from the first team's squad and relegated to the reserve squad. After his contract expired on June 30, 2013, he left the club. The Frenchman has been playing at Trabzonspor since the 2013/14 season . On the 2nd match day he scored his first goal for Trabzonspor on August 26, 2013 in the derby against Çaykur Rizespor . On August 19, 2014, he was suspended from Trabzonspor. The reason for this was a physical attack with coach Vahid Halilhodžić .

After mutual agreement, he terminated his contract with Trabzonspor at the end of August 2014 and left the Black Sea Club after just one year.

In September 2014, FC Metz announced the signing of Malouda. After he had completed 28 first division appearances and scored three goals, his contract expired at the end of the 2014/15 season and was not extended any further. He then moved to the first division club Delhi Dynamos FC in the Indian Super League .

From January to July 2016 he was on loan with the Egyptian club Wadi Degla and returned to Delhi Dynamos FC for the 2016/17 season .

After being without a club for six months, he joined FC Differdange 03 in the Luxembourg BGL Ligue in January 2018 .

National team

Florent Malouda played in the French U18 national team before he was called up for the first time in the senior team in a friendly against Poland on November 17, 2004 . His first competitive appearance was in the qualifying game for the 2006 World Cup against Israel .

At the World Cup , Malouda always played from the second group game against South Korea to the final against Italy . There he took the penalty after being fouled by Marco Materazzi , making it 1-0. Despite this action and a successful game on the left wing, it was not enough to win. The game was lost on penalties.

He was also part of the French squad at the 2008 European Championship finals . The French team disappointed across the board. Malouda played through in the first group game against Romania . In the second against the Netherlands , he was substituted at 0-2 for Bafétimbi Gomis .

At the 2010 World Cup , which was not only sportingly disastrous for the French , he scored the only goal of the Équipe Tricolore . Florent Malouda made his 80th and last international A match in France's 2-0 defeat against Spain in the 2012 European Championship finals .

In addition to his career in the French national team, Malouda has also made three appearances for the football team in his native French Guiana . Since this is not a member of the world association FIFA, this was possible for him despite his previous involvement with the French national team. After playing against Honduras in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup , which will be played according to the FIFA regulations, the game was subsequently rated 3-0 for Honduras.

Other activities

During his active time, Florent Malouda is particularly committed to promoting young footballers in French Guiana. In 2009 he founded a foundation ("One Love") that provides material support for them. He used his bonuses for the 2009/10 season to buy minibuses for local football clubs. And in the summer of 2011 he became a shareholder in the French first division club FCO Dijon ; Malouda justified this by saying that the club had given his brother Lesly a second chance. With this investment, the FCO is also initiating a project that will facilitate the first steps and pave the way for young players from the francophone world who are trying to gain a foothold in France.
