The FirstEnergy Stadium (officially: FirstEnergy Stadium, Home of the Cleveland Browns ) is an American football - stadium in the US city of Cleveland in the state of Ohio .

history

The stadium opened in 1999 and has been the home of the NFL team Cleveland Browns ever since . It was built primarily for American football. However, the playing area was designed in such a way that international football matches could also take place on it.

In mid-January 2013, the name change for the home of the Browns was announced. The US utility company FirstEnergy acquired the naming rights to the stadium. The current name is FirstEnergy Stadium.

The stadium was modernized in two phases in 2014 and 2015 for around 125 million US dollars . In August 2016, the City of Cleveland decided to invest around US $ 10 million in the stadium.
