The NRG Stadium is a stadium in the US city of Houston in the state of Texas with 71,500 seats. In NRG Stadium deny that American football team the Houston Texans play their home games in the National Football League (NFL). The stadium has a closable roof structure.
history
Construction work began on March 9, 2000 and around two and a half years later on August 24, 2002, the inauguration was celebrated. Until March 2014, the arena was called Reliant Stadium . Reliant belongs to the energy supplier NRG Energy , the new namesake. In addition to the NRG Astrodome , the NRG Stadium is part of the NRG Park .
The Super Bowl XXXVIII took place here on February 1, 2004 , in which the New England Patriots defeated the Carolina Panthers with 32:29. However, this game was best known for the " Nipplegate scandal", when an outrageously revealing view of Janet Jackson's right breast was possible during the half-time break .
Linkin Park Live's live CD / DVD in Texas was recorded at this stadium.
On April 5, 2009, WrestleMania 25 took place in front of 72,744 spectators at Reliant Stadium. On April 4, 2011, the NCAA Basketball Championship Game took place at Reliant Stadium.
In 2017, the Super Bowl ( Super Bowl LI ) was held for the second time in the Houston Texans stadium. The New England Patriots won against the Atlanta Falcons after a 28:28 in regular time in overtime with 34:28.
