Course of the game
The game began with the first quarterback run touchdown in Super Bowl history. In the second quarter an eleven yard long touchdown pass from Montana to Earl Cooper and two field goals by Ray Wersching for the 49ers followed. The game was already decided at halftime with an intermediate score of 20: 0 for the previously very weakly favored San Francisco 49ers. In the second half of the game, however, the Bengals were in top form and made two touchdowns to the intermediate result of 20:14.
