The Super Bowl XLIV was the 44th Super Bowl , the final of the 2009 season of the National Football League (NFL) in American football . On February 7, 2010, the American Football Conference (AFC) champions, the Indianapolis Colts , and the National Football Conference (NFC) champions, the New Orleans Saints , faced each other at Sun Life Stadium in Miami , Florida . The New Orleans Saints won with a final score of 31:17. New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees was elected to the Super Bowl MVP .

United States

In the United States, the game was broadcast live on CBS . Jim Nantz and Phil Simms commented . Prior to the start of the Super Bowl, CBS aired a four-hour preview.

A 30-second commercial cost 2.8 million US dollars , which equates to around 2 million euros .

Germany

As in previous years, Das Erste broadcast the game, which was commented on by Andreas Witte and Dirk Froberg .

Austria

For the first time, the Super Bowl in Austria was broadcast by the private broadcaster Puls 4 after the ORF withdrew for financial reasons. Robert Seeger and Walter Reiterer commented on the broadcast .

Europe

The Super Bowl could be received in parts of Europe on the pay-TV channel ESPN America .

radio

As in previous years, Westwood One for the USA and Canada and BBC Radio 5 Live for Europe again took over the radio broadcasts. In addition, other broadcasters in various countries were able to secure the rights.

Before the game

The American national anthem was sung by Carrie Underwood . Queen Latifah also sang " America the Beautiful ".

Halftime show

The NFL announced on November 26th, 2009, when the Oakland Raiders vs. Dallas Cowboys were broadcast, that The Who would perform the halftime show at Super Bowl XLIV. The band presented some of their hits including Pinball Wizard , Who Are You , Baba O'Riley and Won't Get Fooled Again .
