John Allred

John Allred (* 1962 in skirt Iceland , Illinois ) is an American jazz - trombone player and songwriter . He is the son of jazz trombonist Bill Allred and plays in many different styles from traditional jazz , swing to mainstream jazz.

Live and act

Immediately after high school, John Allred moved to Southern California , where he began his professional music career with the Jazz Minors, a six-member Dixieland group at Disneyland Anaheim . At the same time it found its way into the jazz scene of Los Angeles . In 1987 he accepted an invitation from Woody Herman to play in his Young Thundering stove , where he also played with musicians such as Stan Getz , Rosemary Clooney and Clark Terry .

John Allred later returned to Orlando , Florida , where he worked extensively as a studio musician. In the film My Girl, the actor Dan Aykroyd mimed a tuba player, whose soundtrack Allred recorded for the film. In Florida he also played more often in the Classic Jazz Band jazz band of his father Bill Allred. In 1990 he played in the Matteson-Phillips Tubajazz Consort Euphonium with Rich Matteson and Harvey Phillips (tuba). He was also heard on Catherine Russell's Grammy- nominated album Alone Together (2019).

In 1999 John Allred moved to New York City , where he played in the Toshiko Akiyoshi Big Band, the Woody Herman Orchestra (under Frank Tiberi) and the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band.
