Bill Allred
Bill Allred (born November 19, 1936 ) is an American trombonist and orchestra leader in the areas of Dixieland jazz and swing .
biography
Allred began playing in high school bands , initially working locally with the Dixie Lads , the Davenport Jazz Band and the Reedy Creek Jazz Band . In 1971 he moved to Florida and performed frequently at Disney World . Allred also went on tour with Wild Bill Davison's All Stars , took part in his Timeless album from 1986 and recorded several albums under his own name for labels such as Nagel-Heyer Records ; on his album Absolutely he played in a duo with trombonist Roy Williams , accompanied by a rhythm section made up of Johnny Varro , Isla Eckinger and Butch Miles . He has also worked with Chuck Hedges , Danny Moss , Tom Saunders ( Call of the Wild , 1995) and Ralph Sutton ( Echoes of Swing , 1997). In the meantime, he and his son John Allred , who also plays the trombone, lead the Classic Jazz Band , which feels connected to the classic swing repertoire.
