Chuck Hedges
Charles "Chuck" Hedges (born July 21, 1932 in Chicago ; † June 24, 2010 ) was an American musician ( clarinet ) of mainstream jazz .
Live and act
Hedges played with George Brunis , Danny Alvin and Muggsy Spanier in Chicago in the early 1950s , and from the end of the decade with Dave Remington's Wagon Wheel Jazz Band , with which the first recordings were made in 1959. In the 1960s and 70s he worked a. a. with Dick Ruedebusch, Rick Nelson, the New Chicago Rhythm Kings , Bob Hirsch , Tom Saunders , Sid Dawson and Barrett Deems . In the 80s he toured Europe with Wild Bill Davison ; in later years he played a. a. with Johnny Varro , Rick Fay , Dan Barrett and Jeanie Lambe , also with his own formations such as the Swingtet (in a line-up based on Benny Goodman's ensembles) and most recently with his Milwaukee Connection , with whom several albums for Arbors and Delmark Records were created. With Allan Vaché he recorded the album Clarinet Climax . In the field of jazz he was involved in fifty recording sessions between 1959 and 2007. Hedges last lived in Milwaukee .
