Bob Haggart
Robert Sherwood "Bob" Haggart (born March 13, 1914 in New York City , NY , USA ; † December 2, 1998 in Venice , Florida ) was an American jazz musician ( double bass , arrangement , composition ).
Live and act
Haggart grew up in Long Island and learned the banjo , guitar , piano and trumpet . He was self-taught on the double bass . Between 1935 and 1942 he played as a bassist and arranged for big band by Bob Crosby ; he also recorded duets for Decca with drummer Ray Bauduc ( "The Big Noise from Winnetka" , 1938). For Crosby he composed a. a. the songs “ What's New? "" My Inspiration "" Big Noise From Winnetka "and" South Rampart Street Parade ". He then worked in the radio and record studios before he formed a studio band in the Dixieland style with Yank Lawson and in 1968 The World's Greatest Jazz Band ; u belonged to her a. Ralph Sutton , Jay McShann , Bud Freeman , Gus Johnson or Nappy Lamare . In 1985 he took part in Benny Goodman's television show, Let's Dance .
Haggart recorded with Connie Boswell , Judy Garland , Bing Crosby , Ella Fitzgerald (1943/47), Art Hodes , Eddie Condon , Louis Armstrong , Duke Ellington , Pee Wee Russell , Billie Holiday (1945/47) and Una Mae Carlisle . In the field of jazz he was involved in 598 recording sessions between 1935 and 1998.
