Roman Harper (born on 11. December 1982 in Prattville , Alabama is) a former American IFAF poker players on the position of Strong Safety . He played college football at the University of Alabama and was drafted in the 2006 NFL Draft in the second round by the New Orleans Saints . With the Saints, he won Super Bowl XLIV in 2009 and was elected to the Pro Bowl twice . From 2014 to 2015 he played with the Carolina Panthers , with whom he could reach Super Bowl 50 , which was lost to the Denver Broncos .

Career

college

Harper attended high school in his native Prattville , where he played quarterback , safety and return specialist on the football team. In his senior season, he led his team to a record of nine wins and two losses and was invited to the Alabama-Mississippi All Star Game.

Harper then attended the University of Alabama , where he ran as safety for the Alabama Crimson Tide. In his four year college career, he accumulated 302 tackles , five interceptions , five forced fumbles, and 3.5 sacks . As a senior, he was elected to the All Southeastern Conference team.

NFL

New Orleans Saints

Harper was selected in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints . As a rookie , he started in the first five games before he was out due to injury for the rest of the season. He was a regular for the Saints over the next few seasons and was first elected to the Pro Bowl in 2009 when he contributed to victory in Super Bowl XLIV . In 2010 his second appointment to the Pro Bowl followed. After eight years in New Orleans, he was released on February 12, 2014.

Carolina Panthers

Harper signed with the Carolina Panthers on March 15, 2014 and has been on the grid in every game since . On Matchday 17 of the 2014 season , he was named "NFC Defensive Player of the Week" when he scored six tackles and one defended pass against the Atlanta Falcons . He was also able to run back an interception over 31 yards for a touchdown .

In 2015 he was a regular in a Panthers team that played the best regular season of all NFL teams with 15 wins and only one loss . Through successes over the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals , he moved with his team in Super Bowl 50 , where they were defeated by the Denver Broncos with 10:24.

Return to the New Orleans Saints

On June 7, 2016, Harper's return to the Saints was announced. He is to be used as a backup for the younger safeties and through his routine and his leadership skills to help stabilize the defense of the Saints, the worst in the entire league in the last two seasons.
