Zachary David "Zach" Strief (* 22. September 1983 in Milford , Ohio ) is a former American American Footballer . He plays for twelve seasons for the New Orleans Saints , with whom he could also win the Super Bowl XLIV, as an offensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL).

college

In high school , Strief also worked as a track and field athlete and baseball player , but eventually settled on football. He attended Northwestern University in Chicago and played college football for their team, the Wildcats . He was a starter in the offensive line in 40 games in a row and was elected to various national teams.

NFL

In the NFL Draft 2006 he was selected by the New Orleans Saints only in the 7th round as a total of 210th player and was initially only used as a substitute. In 2009 he was able to win the Super Bowl XLIV with his team ; since 2011 he has been one of the two team captains of the offense alongside Drew Brees .

In 2009, Streif also published a charity cookbook entitled When You're the Biggest Guy on the Team! .

After he was only able to play two games in 2017 due to an injury, he announced his retirement from active sport on March 12, 2018.
