Charles Gabriel Grant (* 3. September 1978 in Colquitt , Georgia ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the defensive ends . He played eight years for the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League (NFL) and won the Super Bowl XLIV with them .

Grant first attended the Hargrave Military Academy in Miller County , where he played football for three years and was used in both defense and offense . After joining the University of Georgia , he played for the Bulldogs, the university's college football team , both as fullback and defensive end.

NFL

In 2002, Grant was selected in the first round of the NFL Draft as the 25th player by the New Orleans Saints , for whom he played until 2009. They received the draft right with which the Saints Grant selected a month earlier from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for running back Ricky Williams . Grant quickly became an integral part of the Saints defense, in which he and Will Smith played a dreaded duo. Grant scored 30 sacks in his first four years in the NFL , more than any other Saints player during that period. His only touchdown he scored in 2002 by a 34- yards - Fumble -Return against the Carolina Panthers .

After the 2009 season , the Saints won the Super Bowl XLIV with 31:17 against the Indianapolis Colts . Grant was not used in the play-offs and the Super Bowl due to an injury after he tore his triceps in week 17 of the regular season .

After this season he was released by the Saints and signed on 28 July 2010, two-year contract over 4.5 million US dollars for the Miami Dolphins . But on September 5, 2010, the Dolphins released Grant again.

He then played for two games in the United Football League (UFL) for the Omaha Nighthawks before the Chicago Bears signed him back to the NFL on October 5, 2010. But even with the Bears, he was released after a short time on October 19, 2010, without being used for them.
