Thomas James Morstead (* 8. March 1986 in Houston , Texas ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the punters . He plays for the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League (NFL).

college

Morstead attended Southern Methodist University and played from 2006 to 2008 for their team, the Mustangs, as a punter and kicker college football , scoring 37 field goals in 53 attempts and 106 extra points in 108 attempts.

NFL

Thomas Morstead was selected in the NFL Draft 2009 by the New Orleans Saints in the fifth round as 164th player. Already in his rookie season he was used as the sole punter and was able to win the Super Bowl XLIV with his team . With a successful onside kick at the beginning of the second half of the game, which led to a touchdown and thus to the first leadership of the Saints, he played a decisive role in this victory.

In 2012 he was appointed to the Pro Bowl for the first time .

In 2014 he was elected team captain of the Special Teams by his teammates .

In 2018 he extended his contract with the Saints for another five years.
