Andreas Witte (born March 1, 1955 ) is a German sports , television and radio reporter and presenter .

life and career

Witte grew up in Oldenburg, Lower Saxony , and played basketball there in the youth department of the Oldenburg TB . After graduating from high school in 1974, Witte completed a two-year traineeship at the Nordwest-Zeitung in Oldenburg. Witte then studied theater, film and television studies , German language and literature and history in Cologne from 1976 to 1983 . He completed a year of study in New York in 1981 as a Rotary Foundation scholar . Since 1984 Witte has been working as a sports reporter and moderator for the then SFB and now RBB . He belongs to the tribe of soccer reporters in the ARD Bundesliga sports show on Saturdays and until 2014 reported regularly on fights at “Boxing in the First”. At the Olympic Games in Seoul and Barcelona, ​​Witte hosted the ARD radio Olympic wave. At the games in Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio de Janeiro 2016, Witte was nominated as an ARD basketball reporter as before at World and European Championships. From 2005 to 2011 Witte commented on the finals of the American National Football League, the Super Bowl, together with Dirk Froberg . He is married and lives in Berlin .

Awards

In 1988, Witte received the CIVIS Prize for his ARD film "Türkiyem - Football Home in a Foreign Country" . For his boxing and basketball reports, Witte was nominated twice for the Grimme Prize in the special category. In 2016 he was awarded the Manfred Ströher Prize of the German Basketball Association.
