Carrie Underwood
Carrie Marie Underwood (* 10. March 1983 in Muskogee , Oklahoma ) is an American country - singer . Her career began in 2005 when she won the fourth season of the American talent show American Idol .
Childhood and youth
Underwood grew up as the third youngest daughter of paper mill worker Stephen and teacher Carole Underwood on a farm in Checotah , Oklahoma. As a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, she sang at an early age in the church . After graduating from high school in 2001, she attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah . In 2006 she finished her studies with a bachelor's degree in communication and journalism .
Career
2005-2006: Some Hearts
In May 2005, Underwood prevailed in the finals of the American Idol casting show against rock singer Bo Bice . A record deal with Arista Records was associated with the win . Underwood's first single, Inside Your Heaven , was released in the US in June 2005, sold over 100,000 copies in the first week and went straight to number 1 on the Billboard 200 album charts . In total, her debut single sold over 200,000 copies, which earned her her first platinum record.
The album Some Hearts with song contributions by Diane Warren , among others , rose to number 2 on the American charts and stayed there for 19 weeks. The second single Jesus, Take the Wheel reached the top 20 and also sold more than 200,000 copies, for which it was again platinum. In 2005, the single Some Hearts was released, which reached number 12 in the American adult top 40. In 2006 her song Don´t Forget to Remember Me made it into the top 50 of the official US single charts.
Underwood was also successful in Canada in 2005 and 2006. In contrast to other American Idol winners like Kelly Clarkson , Underwood switched to country music after her victory , with which she celebrated great success in the corresponding charts. For this she was rewarded with four Billboard Awards in 2006. In addition to country-heavy songs, Underwood has also recorded classically orchestrated pop anthems for Some Hearts such as I Just Can't Live a Lie and Starts With Goodbye .
Billboard published a list of the best-selling albums of 2006 in early 2007. Underwood reached number one with their debut record. Some Hearts went platinum five times in the United States. She also appeared as Tiffany on the sitcom How I Met Your Mother .
2007: Carnival Ride
Her second album Carnival Ride was released in October 2007 in the USA. The first single So Small was released in late July. Underwood wrote more songs of his own for Carnival Ride than for her debut album Some Hearts and was also supported by songwriters such as Hillary Lindsey , Craig Wiseman, Rivers Rutherford and Gordie Sampson. The album went double platinum in December 2007.
2009 to 2012: Play On and Super Bowl
Her third album Play On was released in the US in November 2009. The first single Cowboy Casanova was written by Underwood, Brett Hames, and hip-hop producer Mike Elizondo. Underwood sang the American national anthem for the opening of Super Bowl XLIV at the Miami Dolphins' SunLife Stadium in February 2010 . On the album Music from Another Dimension by the American band Aerosmith , she sang Can't Stop Lovin 'You as a duet partner.
Private life
In August 2007, Underwood went into a relationship with gossip girl series actor Chace Crawford ; the two ended their relationship in the summer of 2008. Since October 2008, she has been in a relationship with Mike Fisher , the former captain of the Nashville Predators ice hockey team . They met through mutual friends at a concert in Toronto , according to an interview with People magazine . On July 10, 2010, the two married with their families. Their son was born on February 27, 2015.
Carrie Underwood has been a vegetarian since she was 14 and was named PETA’s World’s Sexiest Vegetarian in 2007. According to her own statement, she has been a vegan since 2011 .
