Kristopher "Kris" Neil Allen (born June 21, 1985 in Jacksonville , Arkansas ) is an American singer-songwriter . In 2009, he won the eighth season of American Idol .

Life

Allen was born on June 21, 1985 in Jacksonville, Arkansas. In 2007 he released his first album called Brand New Shoes . On September 26, 2008, he married his longtime girlfriend, Katy O'Connell. He is the father of a son.
