The Super Bowl XXVIII was the 28th Super Bowl , the final game of the 1993 season of the National Football League (NFL). On January 30, 1994, the Dallas Cowboys won 30:13 for the fourth time, after winning Super Bowl VI , Super Bowl XII and Super Bowl XXVII , the Vince Lombardi Trophy . For the Buffalo Bills it was the fourth Super Bowl defeat in a row. It is the only Super Bowl to which the two participants from the previous Super Bowl could qualify. The Bills are the only team in the major North American professional leagues to have suffered four final defeats in four consecutive years. The Cowboys' running back Emmitt Smith was named Super Bowl MVP .

With their fourth win in their fourth Super Bowl participation, the Cowboys were able to draw level with the record winners at the time, Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers . The Cowboys finished the regular season with a record of 12-4 as champions of the NFC East and were qualified for the playoffs as the best team in the NFC . After victories against the Green Bay Packers and the 49ers, the team from Texas was in the Super Bowl. The Buffalo Bills also reached the playoffs with a record of 12-4 as champions of the AFC East and best team of the AFC . In the two playoffs the Los Angeles Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs could be defeated.

Course of the game

First halftime

After a balanced first quarter, only points could be achieved through field goals. The Bill's kicker, Steve Christie, scored the longest field goal in the history of the Super Bowl from a distance of 54 yards. After Christie had equalized in the second quarter, the Bills managed the first touchdown of the game and the first lead with a running play.

Second halftime

In the third quarter, the Cowboys could use a loss of ball by the Bills for a touchdown. After that, the Bills couldn't score any more. The cowboys get two touchdowns after running plays and another field goal. No touchdown was scored by a pass in this game.
