The Super Bowl LVIII is the 58th Super Bowl , the final game of the season 2023 of the National Football League (NFL) in American football . The game is expected to be played on February 4, 2024 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans , Louisiana .

venue

For the awarding of the Super Bowls LVII and LVIII, a new application process was carried out instead of the previously usual bidding process. The NFL officials were allowed to enter into negotiations with cities and give them the opportunity to submit an offer for the implementation of the event together with the stadium operators. On May 23, 2018, the award of the Super Bowl LVII to the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale , Arizona and the Super Bowl LVIII to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana was announced.

With the new collective bargaining agreement ( Collective Bargaining Agreement ) concluded for the 2020 season , the NFL increased the number of regular season games to 17. As a result of this increase, the season (and thus the play-offs ) will be extended by one week and thus The desired date for the Super Bowl, February 11, 2024 (instead of February 4), collides with Mardi Gras in New Orleans. Therefore, there will either be a relocation of Super Bowl LVIII to another city or to the originally planned date, February 4, 2020. For the latter solution, the free week between the championship games and the Super Bowl would probably be eliminated.
