Jordan Morris (born October 26, 1994 in Seattle , Washington ) is an American football player.
Player career
Youth and college
Morris played from 2009 to 2012 at the youth soccer club Eastside FC from the Seattle suburb Preston. In 2012 he moved for one season to the Seattle Sounders FC Academy, which is the youth and development base of the Major League Soccer franchise Seattle Sounders FC . On February 6, 2013, Morris signed a contract with Stanford University.
In his first year with Cardinal, he appeared in all 21 games and scored 6 goals. He and the team together qualified for the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship. Stanford had not been able to do this since 2009. At the end of the season he was named to the best selection in the league, the All-Pac-12.
On January 8, 2016, Morris received the Hermann Trophy, making it the best college soccer player in the country.
In addition to college, Morris played for Seattle Sounders FC U-23 in the Premier Development League .
Seattle Sounders FC
On January 5, 2016, Morris announced that he would not compete in college for his final year, but instead would switch directly to professional football. At that time he also had a trial session at SV Werder Bremen . Bremen signaled interest in a commitment, but Morris spoke out in favor of a professional career in the USA. On January 21, 2016, he signed a contract with the Seattle Sounders as a homegrown player .
On February 23, 2016, he made his debut in the CONCACAF Champions League game against Club América .
National team
On May 22, 2013, Morris was appointed to the squad of the US U-20 national team, which competed at the 2013 Toulon tournament . There he completed three assignments. On August 6, 2014, he was on the field for a mission by the U-23 national team.
On August 28, 2014 Morris was a college team the first player since 1999 to the squad of the senior team appointed. He made his debut on November 18, 2014 in a friendly against Ireland . In his third international match, he scored his first international goal against Mexico on April 15, 2015 .
