William Christopher "Will" Bruin (born October 24, 1989 in St. Louis , Missouri ) is an American football player who is mostly used as a striker . He is currently under contract with the Seattle Sounders .

Career

Youth and amateur football

After graduating from De Smet Jesuit High School in 2008 , he played for three years for Indiana University Bloomington's soccer team , the Indiana Hoosiers. In 66 games he scored 33 goals. After a strong performance in the 2010 season, where he scored 18 goals in 20 games, he decided to leave college early. Bruin signed up for the MLS SuperDraft and signed a Generation Adidas contract with the MLS .

Club career

Bruin was chosen as the eleventh pick in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft by Houston Dynamo on January 13, 2011 . In the first game of the 2011 season he made his professional debut in the 1-0 defeat by Philadelphia Union on March 19, 2011. His first competitive goal he scored on April 10, 2011 in a 3-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps . On April 29, 2011, he scored a hat trick in a 4-1 win over DC United . This made him only the fifth player ever and the first player to score a hat trick in Major League Soccer in his first MLS season.

After six years with Houston, Bruin joined the Seattle Sounders at the beginning of the 2017 season . He made his Seattle debut on March 4, 2017 in a 2-1 loss to his former team, Houston Dynamo. A week later he scored his first goal for Seattle. Bruin equalized against Montreal Impact in the 94th minute .

National team

Bruin made his national team debut on January 29, 2013 in a game against the Canadian national soccer team .
