Sérgio Bernardino , known as a footballer as Serginho Chulapa or just Serginho (born December 23, 1953 in São Paulo ), is a former Brazilian football player and coach. The striker mainly played for São Paulo and Santos . In 1982 he took part in the World Cup with the national team.
He played for São Paulo FC from 1974 to 1983 . With 242 goals, he is the most successful goalscorer in the history of the São Paulo Futebol Clube.
Serginho Chulapa then played at FC Santos , where he was the top scorer of the Brazilian championship in 1983 with 22 goals and scored a total of 104 goals.
In 1978, the spirited striker was banned for 14 months due to an attack against a line judge and thus missed participation in the 1978 World Cup . In 1980 he took part in the Mini World Cup ( Mundialito ) for Brazil and scored once in a 4-1 win over European champions Germany. In 1982 he took part in the World Cup with the Brazilian national team, played in all five games and scored once against New Zealand and once against Argentina . In 1990 he played for Brazil in the Pelé Cup .
Serginho Chulapa later worked as a football coach. As coach of FC Santos, he was sacked in 1994 after an attack on a journalist.
In 1984 he made a trip to the singing repertory and brought the Samba - LP Camisa 9 out. In 1985 he was also active thespically and took part in a football-related episode of the telenovela Vereda Tropical .
Chulapa has five children and now lives in Santos .
