Fred ( ˈfrɛd (ʒ) i ), real name Frederico Chaves Guedes (born October 3, 1983 in Teófilo Otoni ), is a Brazilian soccer player . The 1.85 meter tall center forward began his playing career with América Mineiro and Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte . From 2005 to 2009 he won three French championships and one cup with Olympique Lyon . After returning to Brazil, he won two Brazilian championships with Fluminense Rio de Janeiro . With the Brazilian national team , he participated in the World Championships in 2006 and 2014 as well as 2007 and 2011 at the Copa America in part.

Career

Started at América Mineiro and Cruzeiro in Belo Horizonte

Fred began his career in 2002 at América Mineiro in Belo Horizonte . There he scored the fastest goal in Brazilian football history in the youth tournament Copa São Paulo de Juniores against Vila Nova FC when he shot from the center line immediately after kick-off and scored in 3.17 seconds. This is also often viewed as a world record. From 2003 he joined the América fighting team, with whom he was third at the state championship of Minas Gerais that same year . He was second on the scorers list with ten hits. In the national championship he was with America 22nd of the 24-club second division. The following year he retired with America at the state championship in the semifinals against the master of the year Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte .

In August 2004 he moved to Cruzeiro. But since there was a preliminary contract with Feyenoord Rotterdam , the Dutch club received the player Gérson Magrão in exchange from Cruzeiro and retained 10% of the transfer rights to Fred. Fred was in 2004 with Cruzeiro 13th in the first division of the national championship and was the club's top scorer with 14 hits in 24 appearances. The following year he penetrated with Cruzeiro in the finals of the state championship. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, Cruzeiro lost to Ipatinga FC 2-1 in the second leg. With the club, Fred was able to win the state championship in Minas Gerais in 2017 . At the end of 2017, his premature move to local rival Cruzeiro became known. Fred left Atlético despite an ongoing contract. The three-year contract with Cruzeiro stipulated that Cruzeiro the expected penalty of 10 million Real takes over. The 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil was very successful for Fred. He scored five times (1 × against Uruguay, 2 × each against Italy and Spain) and was the most successful shooter of the tournament together with the Spaniard Fernando Torres (Torres, who scored 1 × against Nigeria and 4 × against Tahiti in the preliminary round, however, won the Title top scorer because he needed fewer minutes to score).
