Campeonato Brasileiro Série A 1994

The Campeonato Brasileiro Série A 1995 was the 39th season of the Brazilian Série A .

Season course

The Série A started its new season on August 19, 1995 and ended on December 17, 1995. The championship was organized by the national association CBF . This year, the three-point rule introduced by FIFA was also applied in Brazil for the first time .

During the competition, the 24 clubs initially competed against each other in two groups (A and B). The respective winners of these groups qualified for the semifinals. Then all teams in groups A and B played against each other once. However, the points achieved were evaluated in the respective groups. Example: FC Santos from Group B played against Grêmio from Group A 4: 1 on October 18. Santos received three points in Group B for this. The two group best after the second round were the other semi-finalists.

From all the games in the preliminary rounds, plus the semi-finals and finals, a final table resulted which was used to determine the qualification for the international competitions.

After the season, as every year, awards were given to the best players of the year. The “ Golden Ball ”, awarded by the sports magazine Placar , went to Djalminha from SE Palmeiras . The top scorer was Túlio from the champions Botafogo FR with 23 goals.
