Túlio Humberto Pereira da Costa or Túlio Maravilha for short (born June 2, 1969 in Goiânia ) is a former Brazilian football player . The striker has been in active professional football since 1987. Due to his many club changes, he was considered a wanderer .
Career
society
Túlio played for countless clubs in his home country Brazil. The striker began his career in 1987 at Goiás EC . With these he was able to win the state championship of Goiás three times in a row in 1989, 1990 and 1991 . In 1992 he ventured abroad for the first time and signed with the Swiss club FC Sion , then reigning Swiss champions. But he soon returned to Brazil to hunt for goals for various teams and to collect titles. His greatest successes in the years to come include winning the Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol in 1995 with Botafogo FR and winning the Recopa Sudamericana with Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte . In the 2-0 and 3-0 round trip success, Túlio was in the squad, but was not used. In 2002 the striker dared to move to Europe again and signed with the Hungarian club Újpest Budapest , with whom he won the Hungarian Cup . However, Túlio did not manage to convince and so after a year the Hungarian adventure was over again. In 2005 he ventured to Asia to wear the Al Shabab jersey . Still without an assignment, he was quickly drawn back to Brazil, where he mostly played for lower-class clubs.
National team
Túlio completed 14, according to other sources 15 games for the Brazilian national team between 1990 and 1995 . He got 13 hits. As a member of the national team, the attacker never lost a game after regular playing time. Túlio made his debut in the dress of the South American on October 17, 1990 in a 0-0 win against Chile , after he was substituted on by coach Paulo Roberto Falcão for Valdeir . He then had to wait four years until 1994 before he was allowed to appear again for the Seleção. Túlio scored his first goal for Brazil on February 22, 1995 in a 5-0 home win over Slovakia . Túlio scored all of his 13 national team goals this calendar year. With the team he took part in the 1995 Copa America , where they advanced to the final. In the quarter-final of the Copa America on July 17, 1995 against Argentina, Túlio took the hand to help to score a goal. Brazil eventually won the game and some Argentine journalists spoke of the hand of the devil (an allusion to the hand of God ). In the final, Túlio put his team in the lead before their opponents Uruguay equalized. Brazil lost the penalty shootout 3-5, with the striker being the only one of his team to miss his penalty.
