The Nacional Fast Clube , also Fast Clube or just Fast, is a football club from Manaus , the capital of the largest Brazilian state Amazon . The club was founded in 1930 by former members of Nacional FC (AM) .
history
After the Nacional FC (AM) did not contest the championship of 1929, it lost many of its members in 1930.
The cause was new stowage, which the chairman Colonel Leopoldo Mattos of the Nacional Futebol Clube wanted to introduce. In a general assembly requested by Mattos, the player Rodolpho Gonçalves, Dr. Waldemar Pedrosa, member of the club's board of directors, a regulation that obliges athletes to pay a monthly fee of five thousand Brazilian reals without giving them the right to vote.
As a result, several players decided to found a new club that would represent what the old club no longer represented. Including captain Vivaldo Lima and defender Rodolpho Gonçalves. For this, the new club had to meet certain criteria:
- The initials would have to be NFC, just like the rival Nacional Futebol Clube.
- The coat of arms should contain a star, the symbol of the old competitor.
- Professor Carlos Mesquita, an English-speaking teacher at Amazon High School, was tasked with standardizing the letter F with a word that symbolized the new team. He chose the English word FAST. And so it was: National FAST Club.
- The new club's colors were red, white and blue, which was taken from the flag of the state of Amazonas. Due to the choice of color, one of the nicknames for the club became Tricolor . Although the star in the crest is yellow, that color was never officially included in the jerseys.
On October 12, 1930, the Fast Clube held a friendship tournament in the Amazonas Park. The club played their first game against the Atlético Rio Negro Clube team and won the Silvio Franco Cup 2-1. In 1932, the club had made its first start in the Amazon State Championship . After being runner-up from 1932 to 38, 42 and 47, Fast was able to win the championship title in this competition for the first time in 1948.
Series A 1977-1979
After, by order of the Brazilian military government, the field of participants for the national championship in 1977 was increased from 54 participants in the previous year to a total of 62 teams, the Fast Clube made it to the top Brazilian league for the first time. At the end of the season, Fast finished in 24th place. In the league, the club was able to stay in the 1978 season (57th place out of 74) and 79 (82nd place out of 94) , also due to further expansion of the field of participants . The club has not played first class again since the field was reduced in 1980 .
Rivalries
Due to the founding history of the club, there is a rivalry between the fans and Nacional FC (AM) . This derby will be Pai vs. Filho (father vs. son) called duel.
The Atlético Rio Negro Clube , also based in Manaus, is considered the second major rival. These games are called Rio-Fas .
The third major competitor in Manaus is the São Raimundo EC (AM) . Meetings with this club are nicknamed São-Fas.
After the founding of Manaus FC by the city council, a former board member of Nacional FC, it is also seen as an upcoming rival after winning the Amazon National Championship in 2017 and 2018 .
