IC 3653 is an elliptical  dwarf galaxy from the Hubble type E in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 24 million light years from the Milky Way , has a diameter of about 4,000 ly and is listed under catalog number VVC 1871 as part of the Virgo galaxy cluster . 
The galaxies NGC 4621 , NGC 4638 , IC 3652 , IC 3665 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 10, 1904 .
