IC 3647 is an irregular dwarf galaxy from the Hubble type in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 26 million light years from the Milky Way and about 15,000 light years in diameter. She is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VCC 1857 .
The galaxies NGC 4596 , NGC 4608 , IC 3638 , IC 3686 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on May 10, 1904 by the American astronomer Royal Harwood Frost .
