The Campeonato Brasileiro Série A 1991 was the 35th season of the Brazilian Série A .

Season course

The Série A started its new season on February 2, 1991 and ended on July 19, 1991. The championship was organized by the national association CBF .


1st round mode : First, all clubs competed against each other once. The best four teams qualified for the final round.

Final round : This consisted of semi-finals and finals.

Overall table : An overall table was formed from the results of the first and second round.

On May 1, the seventeenth matchday, the match between Fluminense FC and Botafogo FR was abandoned at halftime at 0-0 after fans of Botafogo had stormed the game. The game was then rated 1-0 for Fluminense FC.

After the season, as every year, awards were given to the best players of the year. The “ Golden Ball ”, awarded by the sports magazine Placar , went to Mauro Silva from the vice-champion CA Bragantino . The top scorer was Paulinho McLaren with 15 goals from FC Santos .
