Bernardo , full name Bernardo Fernandes da Silva (born April 20, 1965 in São Paulo ), is a former Brazilian football player .
Career
societies
Bernardo began playing football at the age of 17 in Franca in the state of São Paulo with the local Associação Atlética Francana and after two seasons he was active in Marília at Marília AC in youth for an equally long time . In January 1986 he was signed by the first division club São Paulo , for which he played five seasons and won three titles with him.
FC Bayern Munich
For a transfer fee of 2 million D-Marks , Bundesliga club FC Bayern Munich signed him for the 1991/92 season .
On August 3, 1991 (1st matchday) Bernardo made his debut in the Bundesliga under coach Jupp Heynckes . In the 1-1 draw in the away game against Werder Bremen , he was substituted on for Christian Ziege in the 76th minute. Of the three other appearances in the Bundesliga, he played 90 minutes on September 7, 1991 (8th matchday), in a 1-0 win at home against 1. FC Kaiserslautern , in which he was cautioned once . He played another 90-minute game for Bayern on September 18, 1991 in the UEFA Cup . In the first leg of the first round at the Irish first division club Cork City , he reached a 1-1 draw with FC Bayern Munich.
At the end of September 1991, after 3 months in Germany, he left Bavaria and returned to Brazil.
Clubs in Brazil and Mexico
After brief guest appearances at SC Internacional and FC Santos , he moved to Club America in Mexico in the same year . After a year he returned to Brazil. He first played for two years for CR Vasco da Gama , with whom he won the soccer championship of the state of Rio de Janeiro last year, and then for two more years for Corinthians São Paulo . After another season at Athletico Paranaense , he let his career end in 1998 with another title.
National team
Bernardo made five appearances for Brazil in 1989 , the first time on April 12th in Teresina in a 2-0 win in the test international against Paraguay's national team , the last time on June 18 in Copenhagen in a 4-0 win over Denmark's national team .
Others
His son Bernardo Fernandes da Silva Junior (* 1995) is also a soccer player and was active at RB Leipzig from 2016 to 2018 .
