Franklin Spencer Miguel Bittencourt , called Franklin Bittencourt or just Franklin (born February 24, 1969 in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil ) is a former Brazilian soccer player and current coach .
Player career
Franklin Bittencourt first played for Bragantino São Paulo . Then he went to Fluminense Rio de Janeiro , then to VfB Leipzig . In 1998 he moved to Energie Cottbus, where he played until the 2003/04 season. Franklin ended his career in the national league at SV Victoria Seelow and SG Blau-Gelb Laubsdorf . He has played 22 Bundesliga games for VfB Leipzig (1 goal) and another 39 Bundesliga games for Energie Cottbus (5 goals). In 2010 he was still active at SG Sielow in the old league Ü35 / Kreisliga, for which he played four games in which he scored four goals.
Coaching career
Since the 2005/06 season Franklin worked for Energie Cottbus as a talent scout and assistant coach of the second team. For the 2006/07 season he was promoted to assistant coach of the first team and held this position until the end of the 2008/09 season. From 2010 to 2012 he was assistant coach of the U-17 team.
Others
Franklin wore the number 21 on his back during his time at Energie Cottbus. He was co-owner of a coffeeshop in Cottbus for several years . His son Leonardo also became a professional footballer and also played for Energie Cottbus until the 2011/12 season.
