National league

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the German league system, the regional league is the name of a national league. It is often the highest league in the field of a national sports association. If there is also an association league in a sport and region in addition to the regional league , the association league is usually the higher of the two divisions. Subordinate to the regional league are the seldom occurring national classes , but more often the district leagues and district classes .

ice Hockey

The state league is usually the fifth highest division in Germany and, with the exception of Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia , the lowest division within the ice hockey league system in Germany . The state league is usually a pure registration league, i.e. every club in the state can register for the league. In some cases, clubs from other federal states can also register for the national leagues.

Individual national leagues

  • Landesliga Nord (sixth highest division; includes Lower Saxony, Bremen, Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania; in three seasons)
  • Landesliga Berlin
  • State League Saxony
  • Regional League Thuringia
  • State League NRW

Soccer

Since the introduction of the 3rd league in the 2008/09 season, the state league has been the seventh highest division in the football league system (in men's football ) in ten of the 21 regional associations of the German Football Association (DFB ). In contrast, it is located on the sixth level in seven regional associations or on the eighth level in Saarland. In the state associations of Hesse, Rhineland and Schleswig-Holstein, the state league was dissolved. The regional league is regularly played in several parallel seasons in the respective regional associations, which equally entitle to promotion to the next higher league. There is only a single-track regional league in the regional associations of Bremen and Saxony.

National classes in the Soviet Zone / GDR

After supraregional football competitions were banned in the Soviet Zone for the time being and therefore football was initially only played at district level, the top national classes emerged after this regulation was relaxed in the five countries of the Soviet Zone . These were top-notch up to the 1948/49 season, in 1948 and 1949 the two best-placed clubs in each of the regional classes qualified for the Eastern Soccer Zone Championship . After the introduction of the GDR Oberliga in the 1949/50 season, the state classes were second class. One season later, after the introduction of the GDR league , these formed only the third league level in the GDR. In the summer of 1952, the states in the GDR were liquidated and 14 districts were introduced in their place . GDR football had to adapt to the new administrative structure with its league system. The national classes were therefore dissolved after the 1951/52 season and replaced by 14 district leagues .
