Josef Bernegger

Josef Bernegger (born April 2, 1907 in Kuchl , † November 21, 1994 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian writer.

Life

Josef Bernegger was born the illegitimate son of the farmer's maid Katharina Bernegger in Kuchl, in the “Steinbrecherhäusl”. After compulsory school he was an agricultural intern and later attended the teacher training academy in Salzburg. He was a participant in the Second World War .

As a young teacher he began to write poetry and literature for young people . Later he was director of an experimental and elementary school in the province of Salzburg. Bernegger worked as a freelance writer from 1965 and lived in Salzburg's Kaigasse. He was married and the father of two daughters.

Josef Bernegger died in Salzburg and rests there at the St. Peter cemetery .
