The 8th FIFA Junior World Cup (officially: VI World Youth Championship For The FIFA / Coca-Cola Cup ) was held in Portugal from June 14th to 30th, 1991 . A total of 16 teams took part in the tournament. In the final, defending champions Portugal defeated the team from Brazil 4-2 on penalties after they were 0-0 after 120 minutes of play. Portugal secured its second world title in a row.
The Portuguese Emílio Peixe was voted the best player of the tournament . Soviet striker Serhiy Shcherbakov was able to secure the golden shoe for the best goalscorer with 5 goals.
North and South Korea participated in the World Cup together as a united team Korea .
